In our home, Mast Cell Activation Disorder is a reality my family and I face together. Both my daughter and I are living with the condition, learning — often the hard way — how to navigate its challenges. We don’t always manage our environment as well as we’d like to, but the unpredictability of MCAD makes a perfect balance hard to find. Flare-ups triggered by foods, scents, or stress mean we are constantly adjusting and adapting.
I write about MCAD and MCAS because I know how isolating it can feel to live with a condition that is not fully understood. I want to share what we have learned along the way, for anyone who may be dealing with similar struggles. You are not alone in this.
